Early in the season of 2005 I sought Jeff out for two reasons:1, to bring me to peak form for the National AG Championships and 2, to keep me healthy while getting there. I had a tendency to over-train and push myself too hard, too often. So, I signed on with Jeff with tendonitis in my knee and not able to run with St. Anthony’s one week away. I was completely discouraged, Jeff gave me the confidence and guidance I needed to not only be ready for the race, but to win the overall amateur title and hit a PR on the run. He guaranteed the run PR a few days before the race.

Unfortunately, Jeff and I never got to see what I was capable of for Nationals, due to its cancellation. Though it was scary how fit I was. The confidence I had from the workouts I had done was tremendous. He kept me on track for the World Championships two months away and I surprised myself when I was crowned Age Group World Champion, and missed the overall by 11 seconds. Jeff never really seemed surprised though.

I signed on with Jeff because I wanted the best. I wanted someone to challenge me, but also to tell me when to back off. You can trust Jeff because he’s been there himself and he knows what works. Trust is integral in an athlete/coach relationship.

Jeff is an easy going, great all-around guy who can have a lot of fun at a post race party! He is easy to talk to. I owe a lot to Jeff for my successes in 2005.
